When I was diagnosed with breast cancer my first concern was survival, but my second concern, once I knew that I was going to be okay, was to be sure that I would be comfortable looking in the mirror every day.

I became a patient of the Breast Reconstruction Center of New Jersey in February 2014, shortly after I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Originally I was under the care of a breast surgeon in East Windsor, NJ who I really liked, and she referred me to a plastic surgeon she worked with. After meeting with the referral surgeon and seeing pictures of the women he operated on, I left his office in tears. Obviously, I was not at all pleased with what I saw. Being diagnosed with breast cancer was devastating to me and I knew that I had to find a new breast surgeon and plastic surgeon right away. Fortunately, my boss referred me to the Breast Reconstruction Center of New Jersey, where I met with Dr. Elliott of Montclair Breast Center and then Dr. Rosen of The Plastic Surgery Group.

From the minute I met with Dr. Elliott and Dr. Rosen, I was extremely impressed with their demeanor and knowledge and with their office and staff. Every person that I spoke with was so professional and kind, and they all treated me with great courtesy and respect. It was a pleasure to know that my breast surgeon and plastic surgeon were part of the same breast hospital and that my care was going to be so carefully coordinated.

I left my very first visit at BRC feeling extremely confident in their ability to operate on me with great success, and I was right! Everyone at this breast care facility made sure I was fully informed of exactly what my next steps were, beginning with the breast surgery to remove the cancer to the reconstructive surgery that would take place the same day. Everyone at BRC thoroughly answered all of my questions and completely prepared me for my surgery. They scheduled all the scans that were needed, and they made the introduction to my oncologist.

I knew, from speaking to other women who had Dr. Rosen as their plastic surgeon, that I would be very comfortable with his results. I could not be more pleased with my outcome.

Dr. Elliott and Dr. Rosen are an amazing team and my entire experience was outstanding! Their years of expertise and the way in which they treat their patients gave me such confidence that everything would be fine. I have been to many doctors in my lifetime, but I have never met staff as friendly and helpful as the staff under Dr. Elliott and Dr. Rosen. It was also great not having to be admitted to a hospital. The Breast Reconstruction Center of New Jersey was a wonderful experience from beginning to end, and the ambulatory Surgery Center is spotless, sterile and clean, which was very important to me. I have experienced renowned medical facilities that were not up to this standard.

The day of my surgery, the nurses and staff made me feel so comfortable, and I was thrilled that I was able to go home immediately following my surgery so that I could rest and relax in the comfort of my own home. They followed up with me the next day to be sure that I was doing okay and on each follow up visit thereafter, all of the doctors respected my time and took me in right away. I never had to wait during any appointment, which is very unusual in the offices of most doctors.

I very easily could have chosen a breast surgeon and a plastic surgeon that were within my insurance network; but after meeting with Dr. Elliott and Dr. Rosen, and speaking with friends of mine who also selected The Breast Hospital of New Jersey, I opted to move forward with their services, despite the fact that they were out of network. I do not regret doing so, and they worked with my insurance to the best of their ability. Although it may have cost me a bit more money than it would have if I selected surgeons in my network, the work of Dr. Elliott and Dr. Rosen cannot be beat!

I don't know how I would have found a team of doctors who cared for me the way BRC did. They got me through such a difficult time in my life. I would refer anyone in need of a breast surgeon or a plastic surgeon to the Breast Reconstruction Center of New Jersey. They are FABULOUS!!!
